Neon and Animal Prints

Summer has been kind of a drag here in London. Most of the sunshine is in the form of my neon polishes these days. Whenever there is sunshine, I'm almost skipping with joy as I soak up the vitamin D. This weekend was a mix between sun, clouds and light rain. Imagine switching from sunglasses to an umbrella and back 4 times in a 60 minute period. Ridiculous!

Anyway, as compelled as I am to wear black on these grey days, there are way too many fun summer pieces to be wearing fall fashions. I found these neon jeans at H&M last week, and I couldn't wait to break them out. Naturally I wore a leopard print top (love leopard) and carried my leather jacket for the ever changing weather. I spent most of the day walking around Mayfair and west London, so I wore ballet flats for comfort. (Relative comfort...no support still meant sore feet at the end of the day. Bummer.)

Saturday started with Brunch in Mayfair. We went to Tiger Green where we had a LivingSocial voucher. Our deal included two complimentary glasses of champagne. They didn't mention it was going to be cheap as hell. Yuck! I added orange juice to make it a mimosa, but my hunny got a huge kick out of my big stink on cheap champagne. I just can't drink it. It's like drinking tree bark. This is how I felt about it:

Brunch at Ottolenghi

Yay for more sun! Casual day. Casual fit. Leggings, short sleeved sweater, flats and I'm good to go for a good brunch. I purchased this sweater on Gilt like 2 years ago, but hardly ever wear it. I love it because it has pockets and pockets make everything in life sweeter. Obvi.

We live in a really wonderful area with tons of cute shops and eateries, but I'm often wandering around different areas of the city for entertainment for some reason. I've decided to make it a point to explore places in my own area as well. Saturday morning-ish, my hunny and I went to Ottolenghi in Islington for brunch. I love this place! They have delicious looking pastries in the window along with a counter for take-away in the front. The seating is communal with long tables stretching to the back and some tables for two along the sides. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get our own table, but sitting next to strangers wasn't quite as creepy as I thought it was going to be. I had a spinach quiche with a barley and fennel salad and a side of hummus. My hunny opted for the beef. This will definitely be a regular spot for us. Perhaps we can even get there before noon one say to have some of their breakfast. The reviews online say that the french toast is to die for.

Farewell Brunch

I couldn't leave the United States without a proper send off from my family, so we spent my last weekend in DC brunching harder than we've ever brunched before. I went to Twist at the Carlyle with my parents and sister for an early afternoon of mimosas and omelets. It's worth noting that we got there when it opened and left when they closed, and they probably lost money on the bottomless mimosa thing with us! I had a lovely time and yummy meal and would definitely suggest it to any of my friends in the DC area.

As usual I opted for an all black ensemble. I've been really into statement jewelry this year, so of course I whipped out some Stella and Dot neck candy for the occasion. I'm obsessed with my purple patent pumps, and really loved this outfit overall. I think I've worn it at least 3 or 4 times since!
