All About the Camo

Maybe its the urge to want to blend in from time to time, but I've really been loving camo lately. I wasn't exactly sure how to wear it since I've never considered myself edgy, but every once in a while a girl's got to step out of her comfort zone. I love this camo jumper because it's got to be one of the easiest pieces to style. It's also incredibly warm which is always a wonderful thing.

I paired my camo with an equally "edgy" leather skirt I purchased on ASOS not too long ago. I've never really gone for an A line, but because I'm not particularly hippy I thought I could give it a try. Tights, booties, and aviators completed my look.

My brother bought this necklace for my birthday last year, and it's one of my favorite pieces. It makes just enough of a statement without taking over the look. I love that I can still wear my big hoops without looking like a christmas tree ornament. I think it worked perfectly with the overall look here. The devil is in the details.

I'm currently loving the Dior addict extreme lippies. The shade I'm wearing here is Bellissima.

Casual Friday

There's nothing like throwing on a boxy jumper, your favorite jeans and some fun shoes for an "I didn't try that hard" type casual friday. I love these skinny Joe's jeans because they're so comfortable, and they fit like a glove. I wish they were a little longer, but at 5'10 I'm always gunning for a little more length.

There's nothing even remotely exciting about this outfit. I'm a regular girl who likes fashion. All that means is that sometimes I like to wear really fun clothes, but sometimes I like to wear regular stuff to do regular stuff. The right accessories can change an outfit, so I threw on these L.A.M.B. strappy booties to dress up this ordinary getup. I love that they velcro close because for one, I'm lazy and two, they remind me of the velcro sneakers I had as a little girl. As much as I love my wedges, I love the sexy, feminine look of a stiletto heel. It's just so Carrie Bradshaw.

I whipped out some serious arm candy for this look as well. The Stella & Dot 'petra' bracelet is one of my favorite pieces in the collection. Most ladies wear it for after 5 events, but I think a little day time bling is a good look from time to time. I stacked it with the 'bardot' bangle for a little extra drama. Having such a basic outfit definitely lends itself well to loads of accessories.

I'm wearing my Dior Addict lippie again here in Bellissima. Definitely becoming one of my go to shades these days!

Afternoon Tea: Kurt Geiger 'Elliot' Courts

When I was a little girl, I was obsessed with this movie called "The Red Shoes".  I was a dancer, and the story of this girl who stole red ballet slippers which took over her feet and had her dancing all over the city just gave me life. Who knew that 20 years later I would be gunning for my own red shoes to dance around the city in.

These red stilettos need to make it into my closet soon. I love the pointy toe and skinny, metallic stiletto. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, could these be my holiday shoes? Time will tell..

Beauty Trend to Try: BB Creams

I'm not going to lie, I've been resistant to the BB cream hype for quite some time. I already have a tinted moisturizer in my arsenal for low coverage days, so I didn't really see the point. Had it not been for a trip to Superdrug to buy mascara, I probably never would have tried it. I picked up a tube by Sleek figuring the low price tag would make it at least worth a try.

For those who don't know, BB creams, also known as Blemish Balms, are said to be the all in one facial cosmetic. BB creams are used to even out complexions, cover up imperfections, perk up dull tones, and hydrate skin. I've only tried one so far, but from what I can tell there are different BB creams available on the market to suit different needs.

So here are my thoughts on the Sleek BB cream:

It's a really creamy, highly pigmented, but light formula. I applied it with my fingers starting at my chin and jawline to make sure the tone was right.  The 'dark' formula was perfect for my complexion. Once I applied the BB cream, I applied a tiny bit of concealer to my under eyes, eye liner, mascara and filled in my eyebrows. I went for a nude glossy lip as well for an all around light makeup day.

I really liked the coverage for a low maintenance kind of day. Because I was in a studio most of the day working on a photo shoot, I didn't want to have a bunch of makeup on knowing I wasn't going to have a lot of time to be touching up red lips and a shiny T zone.

My only concern was how shiny I was at the end of the day. I didn't use a powder to set the cream in the morning, so I would definitely recommend doing so if you have oily skin.

Verdict: Love. It's so light, I almost forgot I was wearing makeup. It's perfect for a day when you want to look fresh but not overdone.

Back to Black

All black everything. Nothing is more chic, not to mention easy. If there is anything easier than putting together head to toe black then please let me know.

I did mix it up a little bit. I purchased this Karl faux pearl collar from Net-A-Porter a couple weeks ago, and I've been dying to try it out. I figured I'd pair it with a little black first to spice up a basic top, but I'm thinking maybe prints next time. I felt a little like a nun when I was taking endless selfies with my friend for instagram.

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the Kandee shoes I posted not too long ago. Since I'm loving spikes and studs these days, I finally went and got some studded pumps. They're not the pigalles I was lusting for, but they're a really great alternative.

An outfit wouldn't be complete without loads of jewelry. I'm working arm parties back into my life, so I stacked a few of my favorite bangles for a little pop. That's the thing about black, you can never add too many accessories.

Feeling Blue

Who knew blue eye shadow would ever make a come back? I certainly didn't, but I'm glad it did. I absolutely LOVE the rich blues I've been seeing lately.

I am not a fan of Nene Leakes by any means, but whoever has been doing her makeup lately does a wonderful job. While I was back in the states, I saw an episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Nene Leakes was wearing a makeup look I had to try. It's taken me a few times to get it right, but I think this was my best attempt.

I actually used 3 different blues to get this really deep color. I started with a navy eye crayon by Nars as a base. I then packed on a bright pale blue color from the Nars Rated R shadow duo, followed by a cobalt blue from the Urban Decay vice palette. I opted to keep the shadow on my lid only because all that blue could go from chic to drag queen really quickly. Liquid liner, false eyelashes, and a little blush put most of the finishing touches on my look. I typically choose my lipstick first since I love bold lip colors, but in my quest to try something new I've been thinking eyes first these days. I chose this pale pink color because it had quite a bit of pigment without competing with my already dramatic eye. Again, I'm not trying to do the drag queen thing with way too many colors.

I'm wearing a lipstick I bought at Superdrug here. It's a creamy pink by Sleek Makeup. I don't typically go for drug store makeup, but I figure there's no time like the present to start branching out. I actually bought a few things, so I'll be reviewing those products soon!

I love this look, and I got loads of compliments on it. I love this for a nice evening out on the town and can't wait to do it again! What do you think? Would you rock it?
